How to Fast Travel in Hollow Knight Silksong: What I’ve Learned Playing Through It Right Now

Last updated on November 18th, 2025 at 11:05 am

I didn’t expect Hollow Knight game fast travel. The first one was a conscious slog through backtracking but that pretty much made it more dramatic. But when I came up to The Marrow in Silksong, killed the Bell Beast and suddenly Bellways opened.

Game changer? Allow me to take you through what I’ve actually experienced playing.

Bellways: Your First Fast Travel Victory

So this is what happened when I defeated the Bell Beast. Two Bellway stations were immediately free Bone Bottom and The Marrow. No cost, no strings attached. Pretty cool, right?

But then I saw there are more stations spread throughout Pharloom, and each one costs 40 to 120 Rosaries to activate. I used to think that was brutal. I had been squirreling away my Rosaries as if they were gold. Then I had a moment of clarity. if I’m careful about which stations I unlock first, with how much backtracking you have to do, this could save me hours and hours of time without killing my bank account.

The mechanic is simple: walk up to any activated Bellway post, summon the Bell Beast and choose your destination from a menu. Done. It’s essentially Silksong’s analogue to the Stag Stations of the first game, but quicker and more advantageous because you have to actually earn your position getting there.

Pro tip? Purchase a Bellway Pin from Shakra for 60 Rosaries. It shows all your unlocked stops on the map and, frankly, it’s worth every damn cent. Without some sort of map, I was finding myself lost trying to remember where I had broadcast from. Waste of time.

Ventrica Tubes in Act 2 – The Plot Twist

I did not want a second fast travel system. But when I got to the Citadel in Act 2, boom Ventrica tubes appeared. They were designed to function as a parallel subway system to Bellways. 7 stations, each for 80 Rosaries (one of the hubs is free).

The real clever part? They tie into the Bellways through something known as the Grand Bellway hub. So I can jump between networks. All of the sudden, my party made fast travel feel a lot more open. I got options, rather than having to backpedal halfway across the map

Honestly, I still have to figure out the best way to unlock these. At the moment, I’m pinning stations which are close to boss fights and quest markers. Sounds a little smarter than blindly unlocking everything.

Beastling Call: The Game I Didn’t Know Would Change Everything

Fast forward to Act 3. I acquired the Beastling Call melody after fighting the Bell Eater. This thing has changed how I play.

So now I don’t have to run back to a station every time I want to fast travel. I can use the melody to zip back instantly to the last Bellway I visited. No walking, no searching for a post. It reduces backtracking so much that I’m starting to seriously question how I ever played it without.

I’ve even been popping it before boss fights, or just general resource exploration heavy. Be a couple of seconds away from getting back to safety should things go south. The thing is that I unlocked it so late in my playthrough, but in a strange way I actually appreciate how the game structures progression it gives you tools as necessary.

Actually Using Fast Travel Smart

Here’s where theory meets practice. I can unlock all the Bellway and Ventrica stops but that’s a waste of Rosaries. No, I’m planning my playthrough before I flip anything on.

I map out which places I’ll want to return to often often times places with vendors or consumable healing items or quest objectives. Those get priority. Stations in remote corners? I’ll ignore them until endgame, whenever I’ll step to them at all. It’s not that difficult, but it does make a big difference on how smoothly things go.

And I’ve been combining fast travel with mobility boosts such as Silkspear and Swift Step. I take shortcuts to get to a station faster if I can. Fast travel is meant to be a time saver for me, not an excuse to hobble along.

What Really Helps (Aside From Playing)

Not going to lie, the official wiki is useful. The Hollow Knight wiki also has good breakdowns of every Bellway location and cost. YouTube already has playthroughs of route optimization if you’re into speedrunning or want to see others’ strategies. Reddit is pretty active with tips on Beastling Call timing and shortcuts that I had missed.

How to Fast Travel in Hollow Knight Silksong

But honestly? Half the joy for me is figuring this stuff out on my own. I’ll look up resources if I get stuck, but mechanically figuring out fast travel just makes a lot more sense.

Here’s the Real Take

Fast travel in Silksong doesn’t feel like a gimmick. It’s really woven into the kind of exploration that the game wants you to do, wants you to contend with natural resources. You’re swapping rosaries for convenience and convenience counts when you’re miles into the game and juggling numerous quest lines.

If you are playing through the game right now, don’t feel too much pressure to unlock everything quickly. Be strategic. Turn on stations where you need them. And once you hit Act 3? The Beastling Call may change the way you’ve been living your life up until now.

That’s what I’m learning anyway. Got more of Pharloom to check out.
